New Opera for Windows and Mac debuts in a final version

With the travel season just around the corner, the Scandinavian browser-maker Opera Software today released the final version of its all-new Opera for Windows and Mac, debuting with a fresh look and completely new features.

Notably missing is the Notes feature of every version of Opera until now. This was the single biggest time-saver for me. I hope theres a way to replace it with an extension because otherwise I'll need to keep using 12.15.

Sadly it's worthless to me until they bring back bookmarks

NO bookmarks? Or just hidden in some multiple-click obscure location, like History?

Funny coincidence anyway. Just this instant-- really-- I was looking up something at caniuse dot com. I couldn't help noticing that their listed Opera versions jumped straight from 12 to 15.

I assume they skipped 13 for the obvious reason. The only point of jumping to 15 would be to obscure that they skipped 13.

They've introduced Stash as a sort of really bad replacement to bookmarks. I've tried it a little bit - its good for newbies, but not if you already have a substantial collection of bookmarks.

Not sure about that. I just recieved notification that Opera 12.16 was available for download. I don't see the changelogs on the Opera site yet, but they are apparently still developing the older version as well. I wonder how long that will last...till version 13?

Opera is dead! Why should we use Opera if we can use Google/Chromium?

No thanks, Opera is now a part of Google and was deleted because we have no more use for.

this is a work machine that needs to get work done exploits don't worry me, web surfing is a min.

I was just back at caniuse for unrelated reasons so I glanced at the other browsers' version numbers. MSIE and Safari haven't got that far yet but FF and Chrome both chugged right along without skipping a beat: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 ... Only Opera skips 13. Opera Mini is currently at 14; the preceding version was 12.

As mentioned above, the 12.x branch is still being developed. It's not clear how long that will continue. Perhaps the 13.x was left for future development of that branch.

15.x is a totally new browser with a new rendering engine.
