I've been a Firefox user for years and upgrading to Firefox 3 changed all that. I found it to be bloated, leaking memory, slower than all heck.
In the past I've had various issues with Opera but I decided to give the new version a try and it's FAST, I mean REAL FAST! I was almost like getting a new computer as this thing snaps pages on screen 3x-4x faster than Firefox 3.
The memory footprint is small, it's simply amazing.
There are a couple of things I find quirky that might take some getting used to, but this thing is fast enough and improved my general productivity to the point I can overlook the quirks.
I think I may be the latest convert!
Way to go Opera!
OK, never mind, I just tried Google Chrome.
Heh! Where's you sense of loyalty? From FF to Opera to Chrome in a matter of what? 48 hours? Would you make up your mind already! :)
Opera is a niche browser. I'm sure they are happy with their small number of users and are fine tuning things along the way. They've been there through thick and thin. Who knows, they may shine one day as one of the leading browsers. Right now, that ain't happening. I might venture to guess that the number of Chrome downloads have maybe come close to exceeding that of Opera?
I know Brett digs Opera or at leased used to. For some reason, it just never caught on with us. I know why too. We have to use the "majority browser" to make sure our website properties are doing what they should be doing across all browsers.
Maybe someone will scoop up Opera and create a fourth or fifth serious contender? Maybe they are already?
