Forum Moderators: open
Wow, this is a very cool time saver for me. I've got one of the nine panels set to my webmail account, several set to the WebmasterWorld Forums that I check all the time, and so on. Speed Dial is like having 9 different Home Pages. It's allowed me to de-clutter some of my toolbars by removing bookmarklets for frequently visited web utilities.
I've often said that using Opera gives me an extra hour in my day - now it's even more. Just one further evolution on my wish list - I'd like to be able to edit the title of each Speed Dial panel. Just as it is with the need to edit titles in Bookmarks, many pages online don't have the friendliest title tags for this application.
The titles should indeed be editable through the interface. Can't see anything on that in the 9.5 changelog. The titles are stored in speeddial.ini in Opera's profile folder, and can be edited when the browser is not running.

they revert
Sorry about that... I found the file, closed Opera, edited some titles, made my posting here, and went to have dinner without checking whether the edits would last. Perhaps Opera fetches the title 'live' when we open a speed dial tab?
Some searching showed a posting in the forums on opera.com where a moderator says that the titles cannot be edited manually. Weird.
Since shortly after I first had internet access in 1996, I have used HTML files as browser start pages on my computer. The first one I made with Netscape Composer. I never used the likes of Yahoo and Google as a start page. Why would I, when I can make one myself?
So I have no use for Opera's speed dial, other than open my start page a little more quickly, as that is the only one I have on speed dial. Come to think of it: why can't I open a new tab with my start page? Why does a new tab need to be empty?
My start page contains a Google search box at the top (I never use the one from the browser). Then come links to the news sites, forums, other search engines I use. There are links to the admin pages of my websites. Shops, internet banking, train and bus schedules, maps. And I use other start pages about webdevelopment etc., linked to from my main start page.

i have a 'homemade' start page too, which is one of the spped dial links, but i use the others too

a new tab for me starts with speed dial page
the one annoying thing for me though is that the search box on the speed dial page does not have, right click -'paste and go' whereas the one available for a browser toolbar does have this.
I cannot promise anything for the next version, but I'll keep it in mind.
