Opera's feed reader - crossing feeds and inflated totals

For many versions of Opera I've been struggling with the feed reader. I love the usability of it, but two problems are becoming frustrating:

1. There's a tendency to list feeds under the wrong source name. It gets pretty weird to see a DaveN post under the MS blog, you know?

2. The total number of feed entires keeps inflating. No matter what I do, I can't get it to return to zero. At this point, even with all feeds deleted and trash dumped I still see "336 feeds" listed to be read.

Has anyone else worked with this -- found a fix maybe?

Sounds like the index is corrupt. Quit Opera, delete the lexicon folder and start Opera again. This will force a reindexing of the messages and should fix the problem. Backups etc. first ofcourse.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but the newly built index seems to be exactly the same.

hmm, I forgot to ask you to also delete the indexer folder. Backup first ofcourse.

That did it - all the phantom messages showed up in the "unread" folder so I could deal with them. I also got my favicons back in the newsfeed panel. Will see if the cross-indexing has also cleared up in the near future.
