Wordpress has tons of templates on their site. [wordpress.org...] something there is bound to work for you.

maybe you can use some CMS ?

Wordpress is essentially a CMS - and a pretty good one, probably ideal for your purposes.

In my experience, a lot of "professional feel" comes from high-quality image material (almost no matter of the kind of website). So maybe some Photoshop skills and good material from image agencies (there are free ones) might be as valuable as a good template.

use drupal or visit drupal.org to learn how to develop a website while using content management system. That is a quick way of running anywebsite. You can not only create 10 pages website, even you can create more than 1000 pages in a few minutes. Try drupal.org or just P.M me for further guide.

Wordpress can give a good blog feel but how can i put together simple 10 page sites so that they look professional? is there an easy template system i can use?

Answer is YES. Google 'em. Templates all over the place. Some better than others.

Static or dynamic site?

Ten pages only over many sites? Or many sites with only ten pages each with different content?

I haven't found anything easier than Wordpress.

Drupal's my pick. For a 10 page site or a 1000 page site.

Hey listen, if you are interested in wordpress, might the themes of wordpress are more likely to be your favorite, but for your information drupal is also offering wordpress themes and this a latest addition by drupal 6.X

Notepad and basic html skills. If you have complete control over what you're building, you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of it.

By going with WordPress or any CMS, you open your site up to whatever vulnerabilities exist in it now or in the future, which will mean constant vigilance and frequent upgrades, each one of which might break compatibility with any third party templates or plug-ins you use. Is that really worth the trouble for a 10 page site?

I agree with StoutFiles. You avoid vulnerabilities and save yourself a lot of potential trouble by creating your own HTML pages.

I think you can do better than Notepad, though. Its lack of automation means more keystrokes, which can make you vulnerable to repetitive stress injury. Expression Web, Dreamweaver, and FrontPage can be used as very capable code editors. EW and DW both have free trials available. And then there are much less expensive editors with lots of features. I think one that is frequently recommended is called Notepad++. Microsoft's Visual C++ Express Edition (free) is a terrific text editor, and could be used to create a website.

Multi-file regular expression search and replace is a very handy feature to look for.

It's easier to learn HTML and basic text formatting in CSS than it is to figure out Joomla or Drupal (or WP) and both need some modifying.

The easy way is to learn HTML (and simple CSS for text) and then use a WYSIWYG editor for laying out simple pages. Something like DW4 at Ebay goes for $50 or less and does just fine.

Simplest thing would be posting your project on e.g. rentacoder, elance or similar. Should be able to get a bid for a 10 page site under $100 and have someone else build it for you professionally.
