No. Just submit your updated sitemap.xml with the HTTPS paths and you're good to go. Check back in a week and you should see the data propagating.

Changing protocols from HTTP to HTTPS has no effect on indexing or ranking if your 301 redirect is done properly. If it is redirecting all pages to HTTPS... then it's working.

Have seen a big drop in keyword rankings in bing after implementing https. I have all the proper 301 redirect in .htaccess. All relative links, no http. Sent new sitemap. Looks like bing is indexing the new pages, but keywords rankings have dropped dramatically. I created bing webmasters account back in August and added https version only. I have no mixed content pages, all green locks.

Not all keywords are affected, but many are, and I see a dramatic drop in traffic after https implementation.

I wonder why this is happening. I read in another post about implementing HTTP/2 .... how is that done?

One weird thing....if you do a site:www.mysite.com, I see a bunch of pages with a visible www.mysite.com in the link to the page in green. If I move my mouse over the link for the page, its https. There are also some pages with a visible "https://www.mysite.com/.... also in green, and if you mouse over, they also are https in the link. And these ar only my tag pages from wordpress that have a visible https. Strange.

Still no real recovery on Bing/Yahoo serps after switchover to https.

If you do a site:www.mysite.com in bing, I noticed that the Wordpress posts do not show up as https, only my tag pages, home page, and pages show up in the visible green as https.

Why do the posts not show up as https? Very odd. This has been over a month, and still not showing posts as https. If I hover the mouse over the bing link, it is https, but the green text that is visible is still not showing https.

Is this normal from bing not to show Wordpress posts as https? Trying to figure out why the drop in traffic.....

Have you checked your server access log files to see when bing last crawled those urls?
(i.e. both the 301 response and the https equivalent)

In the log file, I see HTTP/1.1" 200 for some of my wordpress posts from bingbot, since the log file only has the relative page address, I assume this was an https page since it was not 301 re-directed.

I also see HTTP/1.1" 301 for other wordpress posts. So a mixed bag.

I also see an image that is 301, then immediately bingbot does the same image and its a 200. So, I assume it started with the http version and ended with the https version of the image.

But as I stated, when doing the site command in bing, my wordpress posts do not have the green url with https. Is that strange? I went https over 1 1/2 months ago, I would have thought bing would have figured this out already. But tag pages show as https in green in the listings.... Just trying to figure out how I lost 40% of my bing/yahoo traffic by moving to https.

45 days is not quite enough time to know how the bing serp will end up (or g for that matter). Expect 180 days to get real numbers that make sense. After all, you have made a SITE change, even though it is only a move from unencrypted to encrypted. Theoretically there should be no difference in ULTIMATE ranking/indexing, but it might take a little time.

Oh, that's unnerving. I thought servers always logged http and https into entirely separate files. It sounds as if yours are all mixed together.

No mine is all one log file. Thanks tangor for the info....I guess I will just have to be patient. Hope it recovers, as I did everything by the book on the https transition.

There may or may not be a separate log for for HTTP and HTTPS, that's up to how the reporting was set up by the admin.

However, if you properly installed the 301 redirect, all you should be seeing in your access log are requests for the HTTPS protocol, whether your log includes the protocol field or not is, again, controlled by how the reporting was set up.

Just to verify.

With Bing webmaster tools after switching a site to https all I have to do is resubmit XML sitemaps.
