When logging into my Bing Ads account today I got the message:
"Bing Ads no longer supports Internet Explorer 8. Check to see if you can update your browser version."
Clicked on the link included and it says: Nope you have the latest version (IE8) supported on your Windows XP computer (which JUST barely passed support expiration last month-ish)!
I have 3 brand new desktop computers and 1 brand new laptop which came with Bing's partner's W8 pre-installed (unfortunately) and we refuse to use them on a regular basis for anything useful because nearly all of the software versions that we currently use on old computers under XP (from Adobe Illustrator to Quickbooks) no longer work on the new machines. For the office it would cost 5+ times as much as the hardware, to upgrade to all the newest versions just to let us operate at the same level that we are currently. Utter nonsense! Better to cut loses and ditch the new hardware/OS. They are not going to force me to do this just to access their site. You can no longer buy computers with W7 and back-tracking is opening a can of worms from what I have read. Yes, I suppose I could pull a new one out of the storage closet, plug it in, boot it up, connect it to my mouse, monitor and keynboard, etc. just to run the latest version on MSIE, but... it's just not worth the time and effort.
Lot's of large businesses, from what I have read, have bought the extended support licenses for XP (obviously for very good reason), but I guess Bing ads doesn't care about any of this business. So unless they get smart and stop alienating business that doesn't want to buy their other products, it's time to drop them altogether.
