Microsoft has been adding more ads to the free versions of Outlook on iOS and Android, according to a report in The Verge.
It's a double-edged sword, of course, because, as a user it may be seen as intrusive, but as an advertiser, it's another opportunity.
“For free users of Outlook, ads are shown in their inbox and they can choose to enable the ‘Focused inbox’ feature if they would like to see ads only in the ‘Other’ inbox,” says Microsoft spokesperson Caitlin Roulston in a statement.
It's worth noting that Gmail has had plenty of ads for many, many years.
