There's news of a change, eh, Microsoft joining as a Premium Sponsor of Open Source Initiative. How the industry has changed, eh!
[opensource.org...]

"This is a significant milestone for the OSI and the open source software movement more broadly," said Patrick Masson, OSI General Manager and Board Director. "I don't think there could be any greater testament to the maturity, viability, interest, and success of open source software than not only Microsoft's recognition, but also their support as a sponsor, as well as their participation as contributors to so many open source projects and communities."

OK, give us a hint. Is Masson actually Canadian or are you just saying that because he played hockey?

As much as 'eh' is associated with Canadians, it's said in the UK too especially in Scotland eh.

>Open Source
I suppose for some, this is a kind of atonement.

MS has historically wanted to promote open source over FSF style free.

There is also a fairly new CEO, and they aim to grow in areas very different from the past. Yes, they still make a lot of money from desktop software, but cloud services are critical to their future.

Agree 100% about cloud services being critical for MS. Not only coorperate products but the functionality of their software and hardware.
