This is an important ruling, and could have had significant implications for many other U.S. businesses storing data outside the U.S.

US law enforcement would have to prove necessity to obtain OVERSEAS data, thus the ruling makes a lot of sense. One can't compel a company to release data protected by the laws of the locality where the USA business has a branch. Now... how will that play out in the EU? Those courts seem to have a different viewpoint on what is protected and what is fair game.
