Microsoft has halted production of its Xbox 360 games console just over 10 years after it launched in November 2005.

"Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us," said Xbox boss Phil Spencer on Wednesday.

Never owned one. Have played on one. Liked it.
Meanwhile, Live and all that other stuff will continue after existing stocks are sold.

Now they can exclusively push the more expensive Xbox One. ;)
However it's probably a good thing that the older platform is being retired in favor of the new. Microsoft has a habit of maintaining backward compatibility longer than is beneficial to them or the industry at large.
