Microsoft Says Man-in-the-Middle (MiTM) Adware To Be Blocked

Microsoft wants to bring control from MiTM attacks back to the user control, and developers have until March 31, 2016 to comply, or face the consequences, according to Microsoft's latest blog post.

The idea is to block these attacks.

To address these and to keep the intent of our policy, we’re updating our Adware objective criteria to require that programs that create advertisements in browsers must only use the browsers’ supported extensibility model for installation, execution, disabling, and removal. link [blogs.technet.microsoft.com]

Hopefully that will stop more Superfish business models from popping up. That was a really annoying software that I saw on a number of machines.It didn't help that companies like Lenovo allowed it onto their hardware. How anyone could think that sort of software had any value for the end-users was beyond me.

Heh Bill you will remember Lenovo removed Superfish from their Laptops just before I bought one back last March. Still had a heap of other junk to remove but at the bargain basement throw away price, it was well worth the effort.
