Now that's a shift. Good to see Microsoft to bring the flagship software to tablets and smartphones. Released early 2015.

Today is the next step in bringing Office to everyone and on every device with the start of Office for Android tablet Preview, new Office for iPhone apps, updated Office for iPad apps and more.Microsoft To Bring Office To iOS and Android For Free [blogs.office.com]

Interesting that they specify iPhone and iPad, but then just Android tablets. Given the size of the new Nexus phone, I wounder if it would work there as well. If they can make an iPhone version I wonder what is stopping them on Android phones.

Microsoft expands Office on Android preview

Microsoft is now allowing users with Android tablets with screen sizes between seven and 10.1 inches running KitKat (Android 4.4) or Lollipop (Android 5.0) to immediately download the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps without having to request access or wait.

Microsoft is expected to make Office for Android tablets generally available in early 2015, officials said last year.
