It was a message to Adobe, already concerned at the chatter about HTML5 one day supplanting Flash, that times are changing - and Microsoft is scrambling to adapt to that transition as fast as it can.
Nothing has been banned or dumped. That's just a link-bait article title. There are 2 versions of IE in Windows 8; One runs on the new Start screen and the other on the desktop, just like the IE we're all familiar with except this one is 64-bit. There is a beta version of Flash that will run on 64-bit, so you will still be able to use Flash in IE10 on Windows 8. The new metro UI start screen version of IE is not accepting any add-ons at all. That portion is meant to be quick and secure.
