Microsoft to give Hotmail an image (and feature) makeover [zdnet.com]

Summary: Microsoft is planning a Hotmail press event in October that may mark the introduction of a new (and maybe HTML5-based) version of its Web-based e-mail service.

This could be good for those of us who are fed up with Gmail and other services. Hotmail has a lot going for it still.

gmail is used for spam accounts only. Once i found out goo reads my mail...then keeps it forever even if i delete it. No thanks.

Hopefully they don't still wipe out all your emails if you don't log into hotmail for 3 months. After all my mails got wiped I switched.

Hotmail does have unlimited storage on your account. I've used it as a backup for other accounts, but never as my main account. They would need some significant changes to woo me.
