I use an LG Android phone. My default browser is Chrome with Google Search (I removed the Android Web Browser.)

I also use Edge Mobile Browser with Bing Search. I've been noticing Bing Ads pushing the free Microsoft Launcher app and offering double reward points (which I collect) for search done through that app.

I had actually forgot that a "launcher" in mobile terms means "app launcher" and I mistakenly thought it just launched the Edge browser... oh man was I wrong.

I foolishly installed it and immediately it took over my phone, changing everything. A new Microsoft theme, different size icons, rearranged the apps on my screens, hid several apps, and blocked me from accessing the app tray to remove it!

Tried to get to the app through the phone's settings but the Remove button was grayed out... cute trick!

I wasn't at my office where my desktop is, so I grabbed a tablet. Went to Google Play. It wasn't listed in My Apps. When I found it the button did say Installed but there was no Uninstall button.

I did a few searches and found how to restart the phone in saftey and boot to root level (avoiding control of the app.) I then found the app and deleted it along with several of its crime partners that snuck in with it. Shut down and restarted.

Then spent the next hour rearranging everything back to what it was. It's times like this when I don't feel very smart.

Don't you just hate how others try to alter your individuality. I hope everything's back to normal - the way YOU like it

That palm to forehead moment ... we (won't say all, but quite a few!) have them from time to time.

Glad you managed to undo that unexpected result!
