I may be in the minority here, but I certainly hope all this "wearable" technology doesn’t become mainstream. Sometimes it's great to be able to just switch off and be a person, not a "droid" with spy-where connected to every region of the body.

There are uses, but do we really need this level of connectivity?

I certainly hope all this "wearable" technology doesn’t become mainstream.

Wearable technology has been mainstream for a long time.

We don't traditionally think in terms of "wearing a car" - but a car is, essentially, an exo-skeleton which enables you to roll down the road at 50mph.

We could go back further... towards the end of the 13th century, a hacker in northern Italy invented a wearable device which enhanced vision. Over 700 years later, we all take glasses for granted. We don't regard them as some sort of unholy "wearable technology" - but that's exactly what they are.

More types of machine-assisted cognition and physicality are bound to become more ubiquitous as various technologies become cheaper and more commonplace.
