Microsoft has said that Windows 10 is now running on 300 million devices, but it also goes on to say that the free upgrade offer will end after July 29, or you'll have to pay $119.

I often wonder if they will extend the upgrade offer after the deadline. I guess they will be watching upgrades as it gets closer to the deadline.

I presume not as they have already collected substantial data on Win7 and Win8x which have DECLINED or REVERTED back to their original os. Those folks aren't going to upgrade. All new machines will come (those that are intended to be Windows based) preloaded ... no upgrade required there.

This 300M devices is slightly misleading as that is not 300M PCs .... that includes tablets, laptops, phones, and in some cases, service and control systems.

Windows tablets and phones are such a minuscule portion of the market that I doubt it makes much of a dent in those numbers.
