Q: Will Microsoft continue to provide Microsoft Security Essentials support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014?
Q: Will Microsoft remove Windows XP Mode support in Windows 7 as of April 8, 2014 via a patch or update?
Q: Will Microsoft cease requiring XP users to activate Windows XP as of April 8, 2014, since support for the product is ending?

The answers to these questions: No.

What a difference a day makes (a little bit, anyway), at least regarding Microsoft Security Essentials support...

Update (January 15): Looks like Microsoft has reversed itself temporarily on this one. Microsoft officials said today that they will continue to provide updates to their antimalware signatures and MSE engine for Windows XP users through July 14, 2015.

That's July 14, 2015, but it's only Microsoft Security Essentials... not, as I understand it, the Windows Security Center updates for XP (which, btw, just installed themselves on my machine).

Clearly the clock is ticking.

Without the constant OS patches from MS your XP install will be a sitting duck, even with the Security Essentials.
