Windows 7 surpasses Windows XP in the US [blog.seattlepi.com]

As of 4 p.m. today, Windows 7 had a 31.96 percent share of the U.S. desktop OS market versus Windows XP’s 31.25 percent, according to StatCounter. Windows Vista was in third place with 19.21 percent and Apple’s OS X was in fourth with 14.78 percent.

Worldwide, however, Windows 7 has a long way to go. Windows XP’s global share was 46.93 percent and Windows 7′s was 31.44 percent, according to StatCounter.
