Hi, I just wanted to check if it is possible to downgradea windows XP professional license to Windows 98. Any ideas if that is possible? Heard that a downgrade from Vista to XP is possible, so maybe even to something very old?
any advice is much appreciated.

Why? Whatever the problem, there is probably a better solution.

sure, there are better solutions than 98, but that is not to be discussed here. I need either a 98 license or a way to downgrade from XP to 98. Reason is that there is no other 'legal' way ...:)

If you choose to use Windows 98 instead of XP pro, I rather doubt Microsoft would consider prosecuting you for a single, minor, technical license infringement. In other words, if you have a Win 98 CD, just use it!
If someone does snitch and the police break down your door in a dawn raid, you can always plead not-guilty by reason of insanity.

There was such a significant change to the OS kernel from 98 to XP I doubt it can be 'downgraded". Save your data then format and install Win98.

In the corporate volume licencing program you can downgrade to any version of Windows, except the Home versions of XP & Vista.
