Microsoft blocks these programs from starting after SP1 is loaded. Some of the programs include: BitDefender AV, Trend Micro Internet Security
Some of the programs that lose functionality after SP1 installation include: NYT reader and Novell ZCM Agent.
KB935796 indicates that most of the solutions and information is availble from the vendors' sites.

What's up with all these big corps these days?
Since I use a lot of somewhat obscure programs that may not be tested with SP1 yet, how can I know if there are problems. Since Vista is running just great for me, I will try to avoid this update if at all possible.
And Microsoft wonders why it has so much trouble convincing people to intall its updates.
Oh, while I'm ranting, have you noticed that Microsoft Update includes less and less information about the actual nature of any given update? Trust us, it's a security update. It used to say "An OLE Driver vulnerability makes it possible blah blah blah".
