I went to a web site last night and clicked on a link that contains a WMV file. A dialog box pops up, open or save or cancel.
I clicked on open rather than save. Windows media came up and played the movie. After the movie finished, I closed Media Player and went to bed, then i realise I want to save a copy of this file so I can watch thee movie in the future.
Where can I find the WMV file on my hard drive?
If it's not there do a search of your system for WMV files by date.
It may also be in your temporary files.
To find it, right-click your hard disk, choose "Search". Look for *.wmv files - you may use the advanced options to specify a date.
Normally it's quicker to download the file again. Some browsers may even used the cached version (I think Opera will).

If the search does not come up with anything, it is highly likely that the file is not on your HDD.

I forget what the specifics are, but I remember that I was able to access one once by deleting all my temporary internet files on Internet Explorer and then playing the movie again. It was much easier to spot when nothing else was there.
