Apple has announced [apple.com] some impressive improvements to their business services being integrated into Apple Maps. Users will have more hands-on control with these changes, such as editing their business listing and updating location pins shown on the map. On January 11,2023 Apple launched the new Apple Business Connect portal: [apple.com...]

Apple Maps today is gaining a new tool that will allow the decade-plus-old service to better compete with Google: It will now allow business owners to update and manage their own information on the platform, including key details like business hours and location, photos, logos, special offers and promotions, and more. To do so, the company is launching a new web portal called Apple Business Connect, which lets businesses manage their presence across Apple’s 1.5 billion devices from a single dashboard.

More changes will be added though not yet included, such as the ability to receive text messages from customers, and delegating management of the listing to third parties of their choice.

Currently, the announced improvements are available in these languages: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Gawd,
one more thing my poor, overworked former small business clients need to do. (I am retired.)

Note: home based businesses (like mine) are not accepted in to their system. This is what we got:

Although we appreciate your submission, we are unable to honor your request because Apple Maps only accepts businesses with a retail storefront or commercial location that Maps users can visit during business hours and where they can reasonably expect to receive on-site services from staff. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience that this policy may cause you. Should your business ever transition to meet our listing requirements, please provide a photo that shows your business sign and the surrounding area.

Isn't that the same as Google Maps Policy? Not an improvement for all businesses.

I believe it is the same as we cannot appear in that either.

Makes sense about home businesses, the maps are to help people find your business. If you have an actual business at home, and clients visit your home, you'll want to consider making it a business officially.

Be weary of residential zoning regulations, though. You may not be allowed to throw up a business shingle on a home address(online or off). Rules... always rules.
