According to a developer, there's a "Text Bomb" bug affecting Apple iPhones which causes the Safari browser to crash, and sometimes the iPhone will reboot. It also causes some other issues, such as slowing the phone. It's been reported to Apple, and the developer has taken down the code.
Simply sending a message containing a link which pointed to Mr Masri's code on programming site GitHub would be enough to activate the bug - even if the recipient did not click the link itself.
