Microsoft announced today the official launch of Office 2016, the first new version since Office 2011. It provides new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.
Anyone play with this yet? While visually identical to its Windows counterpart (finally!), the performance is horrid. Each app takes forever to open. Once opened, switching between "tabs" in the ribbon is delayed. Aside from the slowness, the Windows functionalities that have been missing on the Mac versions are almost all there.
Ironically, the best-performing application of the suite is Outlook.

OneNote has been it's test for most of the "new" office apps. It works incredibly well on all platforms. Which is surprising for Microsoft.

This is going to be great for Mac users. I might expect that the latest version of the Office is going to have better features and upgrades unlike now. I am looking forward to this. A nice move for Microsoft.
