TextEdit has become bloatware. Alternatives?

Subject line says it all. I'm struggling with the enhanced TextEdit, but some of my clients are really having a hard time with it. Suggestions for a stupid simple Mac text editor for creating clean text for html and online web systems such as Mailchimp and <sigh> Constant Contact emails and posting into website building systems?

Two editors that we have used here at Casa Travelin Cat are:

TextWrangler (free): [barebones.com...]

and

Tex-Edit ($15): [tex-edit.com...]

Free TextWrangler is very good - but for a one time fee, you get that and a ton more with BBEdit by the same people. Both let you choose the charset in use but BBEdit adds in regex find/replace, searches through multiple directories and offers every flavor of code editing tools a web person could want. They let you create lists of often used snippets to add with a click and it can check css and html for coding oopsies. Creates AppleScripts to automate frequent repetitive work. Their support is fast and personal, too.

So ol' BBEdit is still around, eh? That was what I was trying to remember. I knew you guys would know. Thanks.
not2easy, I think I'm going to try TextWrangler first. This is the one time where "a ton more" is less. I'll report back.

OK, reporting back on TextWrangler.
