Lots of announcements from Apple, and especially the unveiling of iOS 8.

Sorry, but I am not a fan of all these wonderful new included features. I wish they would stick to options and let people use devices as they prefer. The DDG announcement yesterday was a plus, the glimpse of the Yosemite OS that came with it, not so much.

Naah... Think I'll pass. iOS 5 was essential* but everything since then has been fluff-- in some cases, actively less attractive than what came before.

Besides, every time there's an "upgrade" I have to jump through hoops to get back on WiFi.

* Had to look this up. That's how long ago they added Euphemia. This, in turn, means they've been running at least one whole-digit upgrade a year, because I know I got the iPad in 2011.

Maybe it's time to change the forum name to "Apple Forum."

The part that cracked me up was the fuss they made about about 'hand-off" LMAO - they learned how to write temp files to iCloud so stuff can share, big whoop

A big change in iOS8 that hasn't been discussed much is how searches now primarily bypass Google (or whoever you have as your default search provider). Apple lists suggestions that go right to a website, bypassing the SERP. Will be interesting to see what Google traffic numbers look like in October. And how much Apple pushes the envelope on this one with further releases.
