The U.S. sued Apple Inc., Hachette SA, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin and Simon & Schuster in New York district court, claiming the publishers colluded to fix eBook prices. CBS Corp. Simon & Schuster, Lagardère SCA’s Hachette Book Group and News Corp. HarperCollins settled their suits today, two people familiar with the cases said.

Apple Inc wants to go to trial to defend itself against U.S. government allegations that it conspired with publishers to raise prices of electronic books, a lawyer for the Silicon Valley giant said in court on Wednesday.
