Airport continually Scanning

I have Fios and noticed that Airport is continually scanning even after the connection has established on the MacBook Pro. The HP laptop that I use in the same room doesn't have a problem with the dropping the connection. Any ideas?

How did you notice it is continuously scanning?
If you click on the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, you make it start a scan ...

The alternate to see a status is to start the system preferences/Network/ The status (should be "connected"), will be there under the airport.

Do you actually have problems with it loosing the connection ?

I'll be on a site, say ESPN and several pages will load quickly, than the next page will hang. So I've clicked on the icon to see if there was an issue/switched to another network.

It's more of a performance issue than dropping the connection.

I wasn't aware that I was causing the scanning, so thanks for that info.
