The upgrade from the 20" cinema display to the 23" screen results in an annoying problem of constantly running off my 8" x 7.25" mouse pad ... and it is driving me nuts!
Have any of you found a really good quality, larger mouse pad that can be used with this screen? I do a lot of photoshopping and drawing so need something which is pretty big and does not require lifting the mouse to reposition it.

You might also wish to try changing the tracking and scrolling settings in the "Keyboard & Mouse" section of the System Preferences.
Here is Apple's page on Mighty Mouse settings [apple.com].
That's an unusual problem! I was able to locate a few sources searching for "large mouse pad", you may wish to try that.
Thanks travelin cat, I have done that but it is pretty difficult to "see" quality on the internet. I just thought someone around here may have had the same problem I am having and might have found a good quality mouse pad that they could recommend.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that but unfortunately it didn't work. I still run off the mouse pad. My mouse pad is just your standard neoprene and cloth pad which is 7.25" x 8.5". Never had this kind of problem before. It is really annoying!
Oh well, the search continues. Thanks for trying! :)

It makes me wonder what could be different about the mouse settings on Liane's computer that would make hers behave so differently from mine.
I just re-read your original post and it seems to me that your mac is still thinking you have a 20" monitor.
You may wish to try "zapping your PRAM" or as Apple now calls it "Reseting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM".
According to Apple, one of the things this does is reset the Mouse scaling.
Here's instructions and more details [support.apple.com].
I had no problems with the 20" screen and the old G5 ... but this new system seems to have a wee problem with the tracking and no, even the highest sensitivity settings didn't help conquer the problem. I'm thinking about cutting up my old neoprene wetsuit and just using the whole back of the suit as a mouse pad at this point!
It's really quite annoying. I'll take a look at those instructions and see if the new machine has some sort of "preset screen size" or "preset mouse scaling" that needs to be adjusted. Thanks for taking the time to let me know!
