I don't have a problem moving the cursor around. What I want is for backspace to be backspace and not delete. I suspect the Mac keyboard (which doesn't have a delete) switched the mappings over from the traditional VT100 or whatever it is.
I may be able to map it at the server end (I'm shelled into a Linux server).
The preference in Terminal is found here:
Terminal Menu > "Window Settings..." > Select "Keyboard" from select menu > Check "Delete key sends backspace"
If that doesn't work, some command line wizardry can be done as described on some of the results from the query "mac os x terminal backspace delete [google.com]".
Generally, btw, Google is smart enough to understand that "mac os x" (without quotes) broad matches to all related terms. So any searches about your new mac [webmasterworld.com] can include that string to narrow down your results.
