Mac OS X tools for webmasters

I'm a new Mac OS X user and was wondering if you could provide me with a list of tools that you guys use for creating web pages, styles, designs, etc.

Start with Dreamweaver 8. From there, you'll be pointed to other tools. You'll need PhotoShop more than likely.

Now, MS is going to do it all for you for free on Windows, don't you know?

Haven't used it myself, but some colleagues have said good things about CSSEdit by MacRabbit.

SubEthaEdit and TextMate are both nice text editors. I'm using SubEtha at the moment, but am considering switching to TextMate.

The Web Developer extension for Firefox is a must have on any platform. I do a lot of my CSS editing in it.

Free Ruler is a free screen ruler that is very useful for, well, measuring things on the screen.

Transmit is a very nice FTP client.

If you like the glossy, glass/plastic-like buttons that people are doing these days (like the ones in OS X) Adobe ImageReady has lots of presets for these...it comes free with Photoshop. Also has feaures for rollovers and other web specific needs.

Linotype FontExplorer X is great if you have lots of fonts. Much better than using FontBook.

DigitalColor Meter is already on your Mac (in Applications/Utilities/) and allows you to sample the color of any pixel on your screen.

Grab is also in the Utilities folder and allows you to do a number of different types of screen captures. There are keyboard shortcuts for some of these, which are worth learning (look in the Preferences panel, under Keyboard & Mouse).

Hold down Ctrl+Option+Command and then press the number 8 key to invert the screen colors. This is very useful when you land on a site with light text on a black background, which I find nearly impossible to read...plus it's cool and you can use it to play jokes on your less Mac savvy friends.

The Text Clipping feature is probably the most useful and underused feature in OS X. Highlight any text (like this post :-) then click and drag to the desktop and it will be saved there...aren't Macs great!

I'm still using Simple Text because TextEdit and BBBedit don't have the features it has, but then they have features it doesn't have also. I'm looking for a new text editor.

I code by hand. I redesign websites for a living and most of my redesigns were set up with WYSIWYG programs. There isn't a wysiwyg program on the market today that puts out clean code, not even the newest version of Dreamweaver.
