Can you create a business/local listing with www.example.com/12345 ?

I thought you had to have a unique domain.

I have a basic question: Can you create a Google business/local listing for a company that has a web address such as www.example.com/12345 where example.com is a portal site?

In other words, the company with the page /17306 doesn't have its own domain name.

I just saw a search result in a 7-pack for a private owner renting a property through a large, famous travel portal that had just such a URL.

Yes you can. The local listings include many businesses submitted through directory partners and the More Info link goes to the directory page. These are pages inside the directory's domain.

Caveat: some portal sites and/or spammers have thought they could mass upload thousands of business profile URLs due to this, and I think Google mass-deletes them when that occurs.

So, if you're contemplating doing that, I'd recommend against it lest you want to get some sort of blacklist treatment from Google and Google Maps.

I've seen some. I can think in business who doesn't own a website as valid example.

A related question: Can you add a listing using mobile phone in data?

I don't know why not. There are plenty of contractors and such who do business via a cell phone.

Kickedout - is your business listing also in a number of major online directories such as internet yellow pages?

Google Maps might want to see confirming evidence that the business is bona fide before allowing it to appear.

Sorry for getting back late to this thread. So, Silvery-- are you saying it can be considered safe unless one does mass uploads?
