Well, seriously, most people need and like fast/easy solutions. Setting up a computer, install server software, etc, or use a webbased solution needing internet?

Having a local server on a tablet / android phone using lightppd, mysql and php or perl serving the content pages, etc to the local network? sounds nice once you put everything inside a little pretty box.

Load? power? seriously optimized applications for some needs will do the job perfectly given the right tablet, many in fact have the right resources. It could also backup on the fly and send it to another place. You could even set it up on the network outside the web, no internet needed.

I'm curious, specifically about having the device on, working and serving content 8 hours per day. Hey, my android smartphone even allows me to set it to auto turn on and off to specific hours of the day, nice. Think about space and power consumption.

Thoughts? anyone near having a device like this ON for hours and days?
