What is a free to use Windows Virtual Machine that I can run 64 bit Mint Linux on? It crashes when "running" Mint Linux on VirtualBox.

Have you tried VMWare? I run a number of 64-bit virtual machines under Windows 7, as well as ESXi Hypervisor as a standalone virtualization server.

Is your Windows install 64 bit? Have you tried virtual PC?
The MS help page on this suggests you check if your CPU is 64 bit before installing 64 bit Windows. Their instructions for checking assume you have Windows already installed.... not much help for a fresh install.

Sorry, rematk about MS help page was incidental (because funny).
The question is whether JAB has a 64 bit Windows install. If not you need to enable hardware virtualistion (for the VM, and possibly in BIOS) and select a 64 bit OS. See [virtualbox.org ]
