Canonical announces that Ubuntu has developed an Ubuntu for smartphones and tablets. We'll be able to switch out Android for Ubuntu on many existing devices and the company also hopes that manufactures will ship devices with it pre-installed.

...it's funny that they used the title "Ubuntu Linux to run on Android handsets"... after a while, they'll end up just being sold as generic "clone" handsets -- forcing the hardware manufacturers to up the ante on capabilities, rather than just selling the handset based on which carrier's network and which company's OS is installed.
