I'm trying to create an ftp user so I can ftp into my directory like this: [blank.dev.blank.com...]

I entered in the following:

useradd david -p patty -d /home/dev/pat

But when i try to ftp in to the server it doesnt work. What did I do wrong or did I miss a step?
