About removal of unrelated links

Effect of: Asking unrelated content links to be removed.

I have a bunch of back links to my site providing from 100% unrelated topic, all coming from the same site (roughly 90 back links).

Could removal of such links help?

I *think* that links from related websites are best but can't imaging that unrelated ones would be worthless.

I've got links from somewhat unrelated sites that I believe to pass value.
