Try Google Insights and the Google AdWords external KW tool too.

The Google AdWords external keyword tool and the Trellian Keyword Discovery tool are the two I've come to trust when I want something at a granular level, and focused around an already-specified topic.

i think google trends works best since you can compare different words at the same time but am not sure how reliable that info is
