I'm looking for a freeware editor on Windows 7 that is freeware (preferably cross-platform on Linux and open source but I'm after productivity more than a transition to Linux right now).
I prefer a right side panel with a list of JavaScript functions or CSS selectors.
Having a left panel for a directory/file hierarchy wouldn't hurt either.
I've been using SuperEdi though it's syntax highlighting capabilities are unfortunately limited as well as it's JavaScript functions (e.g. window.onload won't show up).
The ability to customize an editor is extremely useful for me as it greatly increases productivity. I was using PhpStorm at a previous client's place though I'm not looking to spend hundreds a year as I don't need that level of extensive features.
Suggestions please?
John
