Hello,
I've been using DW for about 6 years now, about 3 years ago I've been using the code view only.

In the years I didn't see any real change in DW. Now since I just code myself do you have any suggestions? I need a LIGHT editor (even not free, but with a demo at least) that has nice colors for html,php and JS and it has the auto completion thing or help tricks. Anything that could help understand errors in the best way :)

Eclipse is open source (free) and can do all that and more. The learning curve is about the same as DW but if you watch some of the tutorials/demos you will be up to speed in no time.

Only just found this, if your fed up of DW & something like coopster is suggesting is too big, and you want something nice and light on the CPU, then there are lots out there, I myself have just gone through this process of finding something just right.

To name but a few - best thing to do is just get a handful and run each for a day, then by the end of the week, you can see what you think from that.

My own preference is something with code folding & built in FTP client, and so far I can't find anything to scratch my particular itch. I live in hope :)

Hey MRb, have you tried EditPlus? I normally work on mac but had to find a decent windows editor abuot 18 months ago and after alot of searching stumbled across EditPlus. It's not free but very very good and has code folding and a good inbuilt ftp client.

Might be a little late, but I'd recommend "e texteditor".
It's basically a textmate clone for windows utilizing the power of cygwin and it supports all .tmbundle files from/for textmate.
The project view in e also integrates well with tortoise svn, which is a plus I'd say.

if you are using Linux

I like using gedit. It's quick and deals with large files very nicely.

It's a text editor that colour codes all kinds of script/markup/languages, which pretty much covers the bases for me.

editplus is awesome, you can configure it how you want and build your own snippets/libraries

AFAIK WebmasterWorld was built with it too
