It will transition easily. In fact, and for reasons I do not know, WE will install along side FP, not overwrite it, so you will have the benefit of both. The only thing is EW will view any site you open for the first time in it as a new site, so it may want to republish all the pages.

Thank you. The requirement of republishing all my pages to Expression was another concern. But since it works along side the old, that can help make the transition a little easier.

Are you using any of the Frontpage webbots that require FPSE? If not, then you should be fine. You can still publish with http to help maintain your FPSE but I have gone back and forth with a few sites - opening them in Expression Web and Frontpage with no problems

No I'm not using any of the FBSE web bots. I've been reading up on CSS, and I can definitely see the benefits it can give my site, especially with maintenance.

EW will publish using http or ftp.

It did to mine, but I was able to fix it in a few minutes. The problem was that EW by default saved a page in utf-8, while all the pages saved in FrontPage were saved in iso-8859-1. The FrontPage file (iso-8859-1) that had an include of the utf-8 page certainly stopped working.

So, just make sure you watch out for page encoding.

Ha! That's easy to say, but I bet I'm not the only person who had an important web page stop working because EW does things differently.

I am happy using EW, but I consider that the setup program did not prompt me with a warning of such a change to be bad form, to put it mildly.
