What's happening is that when I go to preview a page in Firefox
(version 2.0.0.2), I get a "File not found - Firefox can't find the file at"
error. It works in Safari, though.
Looking closer, I see that the url in Firefox is like this:
file:///MAC2%20FIREWIRE/JOBS%20(Firewire)/19510-
Soerens%20Web%20Site/Production%20Files/Freeway-
HTML/Soerens%20Woodworking%20site%20folder/default.htm
while the url in Safari is like this:
file:///Volumes/MAC2%20FIREWIRE/JOBS%20(Firewire)/19510-
Soerens%20Web%20Site/Production%20Files/Freeway-
HTML/Soerens%20Woodworking%20site%20folder/default.htm
Notice that the Safari url has "Volumes" at the beginning.
Doing a Google search I've seen that other people have had this problem, but no solutions has appeared.
It definitely has something to do with the folder being on a firewire drive. I moved it to an internal drive and it worked fine.
Unfortunately, SOP at my company is that the jobs are kept on the firewire drives, and retrospect does the nightly backups on the files in those folders.
Can anyone think of anyway to get the preview working correctly in Firefox? Thanks!
i had a similar problem on my machine. firefox would make the url the path to the file and wouldn't display the preview. everytime i previewed i'd have to delete "macintosh HD" since it was on my dsktop and it would work. i eventually got it to work without me having to delete anything but forgot what i did.
i'll let you know how if i remember it.
