Dreamweaver Appearing as Default but why?

I have dreamweaver mx2004 installed and I also have notepad++. I have notepad++ as my default editor for php, js, xml etc. The thing is that the dreamweaver logo shows itself on these files instead of notepad++. I have changed the file settings to "opens with" and "always use this program" for notepad++ but still dreamweaver is showing its logo.

Any suggestions?

ok, i played around and made other programs the default and that seemed to loose dreamweavers grip.

dang, its doing it again, why does dreamweaver insist on showing its logo when i have another program as the default?

The 'logo' (icon) is set by Windows when your file associations were set by DW. Restoring the other programs as default obviously didn't change the icons back. You'll need to do that manually. You can set the icon in Windows Explorer:

Tools ¦ Folder Options ¦ File Types ¦ Advanced ¦ Change Icon...

ok, ill try that. would it be possible for me to create my own custom icons and use them in this way?

You'll need some icon making software. It's certainly possible to make your own, but I find the process a bit too time consuming personally.

note: there is an .ico format plugin for photoshop, google for it. also note that photoimpact and many others have this built in.
