Dreamweaver or Go Live?

I have been crying in my diet coke ever since I heard that Front Page will be discontinued. Now I have to choose another. I use Photoshop and I understand that Adobe just purchased Dreamweaver. My trainer is trying to get me to go with Go-Live because he knows it much better than he does Dreamweaver, and is therefore, more comfortable with it. However, logic would dictate that if Adobe just purchased Dreamweaver, then they are probably planning on replacing Go-Live with Dreamweaver and integrating Dreamweaver into the complete package. Is my reasoning sound, or do you think that Adobe will continue with both Go-Live and Dreamweaver and both will be equally integrated into the package? AND, is Go-Live as powerful a program as Dreamweaver is?

Dreamweaver requires separate software for Flash and Fireworks.
Go Live, to my knowledge, does not. I heard that Go Live incorporates their version of Flash and Fireworks directly into Go Live.

Do you think that Adobe will incorporate Flash and Fireworks into Dreamweaver the way they do Go Live now? Or, will I need to buy Flash and Fireworks separately from Dreamweaver?

I expect GoLive will die since the acquisition of DW - but who knows with Adobe... I have used both and I found DW to be superior for my needs.

Can't you just continue to use FP for your HTML pages? Or at least until Adobe sorts things out?
The software won't stop working.
For example, I have Dreamweaver 3 - it works fine and will continue to forever.

At some point, Adobe will have to decide on one or the other.
And, in the meantime, I can do business as usual.

High Fructose Corn Syrup should be banned.

Front Page should be banned too.

While it isn't perfect, standardize on Dream Weaver. Adobe should ensure it will remain on the market for many years.

I recently went to Borders to look at the books in the Computer Section. There were three rows of Dreamweaver Books. There was only one Go Live book.

If Adobe follows the laws of demand, Dreamweaver will win out. Even if they revise it, it will still be Dreamweaver.

I personally prefer Expression Web to DW, but the final version will not be out for 4-8 weeks.

Dreamweaver is here to stay for a very long time (industry standard) - Adobe bought it becuase its far better than adobe's offerings. Flash will also be around for a long time - however what adobe does with Fireworks because of photoshop will be something to note [matter of opinion or familarity on what's better]. DW tutorials are real easy!

MS dropping FP is remarketing with the rest of the MS o/s that they will be intro-ing. They're are a lot of die-hard FP users - here and throughout the net. The artical from PC world suggests of a rebranding of FP rather than its dissapperance!

Bye-Bye Front Page in New Office, Says Microsoft [blogs.pcworld.com]

Basically the former FP will be the base of a entreprise level site development software 'sharepoint designer 2007' and for the individual 'Expression web designer' which will be outside of the office 2007 suite, which may have been the over-riding reason why so many used FP in the first place.

So if your happy with FP - why not wait and see what Experssion Web Designer will be like

By the time that you have learned how to use Dreamweaver or Go live, you could have learned how to make a W3C compliant website in standard HTML
Using a standard text editor.
