Choosing an editor - new to HTML

I'm trying to use Mal's shopping cart & need help. What HTML editor does anyone recommend for a brand new to HTMl user? Myself! I'm going to teach myself & think I'm in over my head. My website is already to go but the shopping cart & I have no idea where to start. I think with an html editor?

If you are wanting to learn HTML then an editor that colour codes your tags, and has auto-complete is handy. I use HTML-Kit (http://www.chami.com/html-kit/) which is FREE and very customisable.

If, however, you would like something with more of a WYSIWYG editor (so you can perhaps look at the code generated and get ideas) then you'll need to look elsewhere. BUT WYSIWYG editors don't always produce the best/cleanest code.

I use Dreamweaver and really like it for html, but Penders is right that WYSIWYG editors don't make the cleanest code.

Having said that, they are great way to get familiar with html structures, and they can make editing/cleaning the code by hand a pretty simple process too.
