don't know if this is a bug in DW or not, I'm hoping there's a setting I'm missing.
Sometimes, but not always, when I make a relative link (such as to ../a-file.html) DW saves it as absolute (like C:\local folder\local folder\a-file.html) - it's more than a bit of a pain, especially when the link is in a non-editable region of a template!
I always find a work around but I was wondering if anyone else has this and knows why, or how to stop it.
Thanks in advance
Rolf
I'm using 2004MX - although I'm less and less into it the more I use php and CSS. On top of the problem I posted about it seems to render things oddly a lot of the time, so I'm open to any suggestions of what versions (or other programs) might be better.
Someone told me the latest version is great for php/css so I'm considering an upgrade but the whole adobe takeover thing makes me uncertain about a)how much effort has been put into the latest version and b)what the future holds for dw in terms of support.
On the other point, I encoutered the porblem a few times when I putt links in before saving, but after figuring it out I made saving any new document the first part of my process. It certainly happens a lot less but unfortunately still happens - thanks for the suggestion though :-)
On the Mac, at the bottom left hand corner is a pulldown that lets you make a relative (to document) or absolute (to site root) link....
That's what you need to change. Saving a file before adding links is, I believe, a red herring - I save when I feel like it :-)
