Favicon in IE7

IE7 changes favicon

It seems IE7 has a problem with favicon. They worked fine with IE6 but on a regular basis IE7 replaces the favicon from the bookmarked pages of my own site with the one of the first bookmarked site I visit. FF works fine though.

Anyone has any idea how to prevent this?

How are you specifying the favIcon in your HTML files, using the <meta> tag?

It is not specified. The favicon.ico is in the root. That's all. This worked fine with IE6 but IE7 seems to have a problem with it.

You might consider adding both these tags to <HEAD> section:

Also, do not config browser to delete cache every time it closes.

That's your decision. Personally, I install the tags on all entry pages.

I put them on all pages but IE7 seems to be very stuborn. Not only does it keep replacing my favicon.ico, it also keeps rearanging my shortcuts on the shortcut bar.

I wonder when Microsoft is going to release something that works from day one...

Notepad works pretty well. Solitaire too.
