Apart from hiring an illustrator/photographer you're best bet is trawling the stock sites.

Depending on what game you are making content for, there are various websites for uploading custom content into an online gaming universe. If your not happy with the selections you find in the online community, there are some really good easy 3-d manipulation programs like milkshape that allow you to make your own custom content. The easy part is finding the content, the hard part is hacking your way into the online game to implement it. Good luck!
